PORTRAITS /

PERSONS

A person, in philosophical terms, refers to a real, sentient being with agency and consciousness. They feel they have a clear, more or less stable identity and a free will. In the social world, she quickly builds up a variety of characters based on her immediate environment.

Doubts arise between posturing and imposture. How do you translate this?

In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson:

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.

In the words of Oscar Wilde:

Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.
